Tatuaje’s Redux Monsters series is about to get its sixth member, as the company announced that The Jason Redux 6 will begin shipping to stores early next month.
It’s a 7 1/2 x 52 vitola with a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over Nicaraguan binders and fillers. It is a blend that is loosely based on the Fausto/Avion blend, and was one of Tatuaje’s strongest cigars to date at the time of its release.
The cigars are made at My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua, with production limited to 5,000 boxes of 13 cigars, a total run of 65,000 cigars. Of those 5,000 boxes, 666 are sequentially numbered, while 34 are marked with XX in place of the numbers and are usually saved for special occasions.
The Tatuaje The Jason Redux 6 traces its roots back to 2013, when Tatuaje released The JV13, the sixth cigar in its Monster Series. That series debuted in 2008, built around a cigar released ahead of Halloween and with a name and imagery based on a movie monster, in this case, Jason Voorhees of the “Friday the 13th” movie franchise.
Since then, a 5 1/2 x 52 version called the Tatuaje Jason was released in June 2014, the Tatauje Skinny Jason, measuring 6 x 38, was released in April 2016, the 6 3/8 x 43 Cazadores Jason and 7 1/2 x 38 Skinny Lanceros Jason were releeased in May 2017, the 6 x 52 Monster Mash Jason was released in September 2021, the 5 1/4 x 52 Monster Smash Jason was released in August 2024.
In 2021, Tatuaje released The Frank Redux 1, which kicked off what has become an annual release where the company rereleases the original Monster Series cigars, with new production cigars and slightly updated branding.
