From Dunbarton's Steve Saka (2023):
"In 2017, the “Unicorn” began as a pet project of mine gone awry. It was predicated on my disappointing experiences with dozens of individual “uber-rare” cigars with price tags ranging from $100.00 to $3000.00 over the years. IMO, the vast majority of these cigars were just marketing gimmicks and even worse, many of them just plain sucked.
"So, it got me thinking: “What if I went whole hog crazy and did everything to the Nth degree on the cigar itself?” Meaning no bazillion dollar alcohol infusion or celebrity endorsement, but rather just focused on the tobacco and cigar itself. What could I possibly spend to make such a cigar? And would those costs justify the result? It turned out it cost way more than I expected and resulted in a $100.00 unique diademas. Granted it was an amazing cigar, but who in their right mind would pay a “hundo” for a cigar? I thought that would be the end of it, but here it is five years later and every single year the demand grows, and we always sell out of our annual production of Unicorns. For example, we sold out of all the Y2023 original liga Unicorns before March – it is crazy! Separate of that, I have been experimenting with crafting more Unicorns in two of our most heralded and in demand ligas: the Sobremesa Brulée Blue and the Mi Querida Black.
"And they are exceptional – true bliss to smoke. So, I decided to make an extremely limited batch to once again share with our best purveyors. Plus these are so delish, I couldn’t help myself, but to craft beautiful cabinets and coffins to display them. Sexy to look at, but even sexier to smoke! There are only 200 10ct Cabinets of each liga."
