For over 200 years, Kentucky-grown tobaccos have been fire-cured by local farmers to create a leaf that’s distinctly smoky. Through the process, the tobacco is hung on wooden slats to dry and cure in specialized barns with smoldering fires hand-built from hardwoods like hickory, oak, and maple.
Folklore has it that it was on a tobacco selection trip in Kentucky that our founder, Jonathan Drew Sann, and his team learned of this well-kept secret, this family process of tobacco curing … the Drew Estate team was inspired, and worked to build off this 200-year-old process and create a cigar worthy of the heritage. To develop a cigar blend and brand worthy of Kentucky’s pride and Drew Estate’s standards, we married this Kentucky phenomenon with the bold, rich tobacco of Nicaragua and Kentucky Fire Cured Cigars were born.
KFCC embraces the spirit of the cookout, the warmth of Southern hospitality, and the tradition of sharing stories and laughs with those you care about most – of course, over a great cigar.
Kentucky Fire Cured Cigars not only contributed to the world of premium cigars by reigniting passion in this time-honored smoky, savory, peat-like dimension – but also kicked off a new way for cigar enjoyers like yourself to journey first-hand into the American tobacco experience with the creation of the Drew Estate Barn Smoker. Famous for going behind the curtain of cigar making, Drew Estate’s Barn Smoker later expanded beyond Kentucky to include Florida, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and St. James Parish, Louisiana.
