From the Dr. Dan estate comes this Ser Jacopo Billard Rusticated with Horn Shank.
Founded in 1982 by Giancarlo Guidi, Ser Jacopo emerged from Guidi's earlier venture, Mastro de Paja, which he co-founded a decade before. Located in Pesaro, Italy, Guidi and his team crafted a distinctive identity within the Italian pipe-making landscape. Unlike earlier Italian brands such as Castello and Savinelli, which drew heavily from traditional French and English designs, Ser Jacopo's creations were inspired by Guidi’s personal experiences and his love of fine art. This led to what is now recognized as the "Pesaro" style, characterized by its whimsical nature, with designs that often feature expressive curves and imaginative details. Known especially for the Maxima pipes—some of the largest in the market—and the Picta series, which showcases renditions of pipes depicted in famous artworks by artists like van Gogh, Magritte, and Picasso, Ser Jacopo also features the Insanus line, known for its intriguing and enigmatic designs. The La Pipaccia series pays homage to pipes observed being smoked by local fishermen. Although Guidi passed away in 2012, the skilled artisans at Ser Jacopo continue his innovative spirit, handcrafting each pipe in an array of bold shapes and finishes, including smooth, sandblasted, and rusticated textures. The Delecta series from Ser Jacopo highlights a unique shank and stem configuration, complete with decorative accents at the shank's end and the base of the stem. In this particular piece, the distinctive accents are crafted from genuine horn—a rare feature for this esteemed Italian workshop.
