From the Dr. Dan estate comes this Dunhill vintage estate pipe. Based on the markings on the bottom, we have determined that this Dunhill is from the Shell Briar finish/line which refers to their sandblasting process of Algerian briar root (or as their patent application states: "shelled by the application of heat and sand").
The date code indicates that this is from 1964. LBS refers to Long Billiard but we have yet to confirm the S (we think it means Slender as there is just the LB classification). F/T refers to the mouthpiece which is a "fishtail" format. In near-mint condition there is only slight cake in the bowl. As most of Dr. Dan's pipes, this one has been well-kept. All estate pipes sold as-is.
Pipemaker History:
Arguably one of the most iconic pipe makers in the world, Dunhill originated in England. What Alfred Dunhill, son of a leather-harness and canvas-tarpaulin maker, created in 1907 when he opened his first tobacconist shop in Duke Street, London, was something extraordinary: he set a new standard for smoker's products of the finest quality, and he forged a new hallmark for exemplary customer service. Known for the white dot on their stem, a Dunhill is requisite for any serious pipe smoker's collection.
