As long as cigars are kept in the right conditions (~70°F for temperature and 65% to 75% RH for humidity), they will last indefinitely. In order to control and maintain the proper humidity, the cigar smoker needs a humidifier. You may use an active option like Oasis models that use motors to move the air or a passive option like Boveda that diffuse the moisture throughout the humidor.
